GORGEOUS CHIC ROMANTIC DESTINATION WEDDING IN ANTIGUA GUATEMALA AT LA RECOLECCION & SANTA CLARA RUINS
SHIRLEY & GREG
March 27th. 2021 / by Sparks Weddings Team /
We are thrilled to share today the beautiful wedding of Shirley & Greg that took place in Antigua Guatemala at La Recolección & Santa Clara Ruins.
After postponing their wedding two times due to COVID and the unimaginable volcanic eruption on their wedding week, they finally tied the knot in an intimate romantic ceremony at the magical ruins of La Recolección and then celebrate with friends and family in the mystical ruins of Santa Clara (both celebrations in Antigua Guatemala).
Shirley was born and raised in Guatemala but moved to California at the age of three. Growing up, she spent a lot of time visiting her family in Guatemala and developed a strong bond with her native country. It was amazing the way she was proud of her roots and wanted to share her passion for Guatemala with Greg and their guest from all over the world. Greg on the other hand was born and raised in Chicago and moved to California due to professional reasons, he was thrilled with the idea of getting married in Guatemala since our initial call back in of 2,018 (I can’t believe it has been almost 2 years since the first time they contacted us!).
Planning and executing this wedding was challenging yet at the same time amazingly fulfilling; we adored everything but most importantly, we adored working with the team behind the scenes. From the stationary made specially for them by Rebecca Green Design, the amazing design & decorations by Guatemalan rising star, Bea de la Roca from Addy Florales to the pictures taken by the talented couple Dani & Mishka from Daniel Lopez Perez Wedding Photography & video by talented Argentinian Rodrigo Zadro.
The couple chose a Guatemalan chic romantic style divided in 3 different events: ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. The cocktail hour was adorned with bright Guatemalan colors while both ceremony and reception were adorned with lush floral arrangements and pampas creating the perfect setting!
The bride was looking GORGEOUS in her delicate wedding gown by European bridal couture Milla Nova & shoes by Manolo Blahnik. Just stunning!
Prepare to fall in love with every single detail of this lush romantic destination wedding planned by the one & only US!
What was the most anticipated part of the day?:
If I had to pick one, it would be the “I-dos”.
What ended up being the best part of your day?:
Being with our families and friends, in Guatemala, on one of the most special days of our lives.
What was the biggest surprise on your wedding day?:
The fireworks!! We knew these were happening, but the guests didn’t, so seeing how everyone was enjoying the fireworks showwas super special. Plus, being inside Santa Clara ruins with fireworks above us was simply magical.
How did you feel at the end of your wedding?:
I felt like the day went too fast but that’s because i didn’t want it to end!
What advice would you give to future couples on their wedding day?:
Enjoy every second of it!!
Is there anything else you'd like to share about your experience?:
With Covid restrictions making our wedding planning 10xs more stressful, I don’t know what we would have done without Thelma. She was always one step ahead and had back up ideas which helped us stay calm! She’s very VERY organized and remembers even the smallest of details.
